HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL
Fr. Roch Memorial High School was established in the year 1974 in the Khariatabad parish, after the sudden and tragic death of Late. Rev.Fr. Xavier Roch.
Rev.Fr. Xavier Roch ,the humble servant of God, was the parish priest in Khairatabad for nearly 3 decades ( 1947 – 1974 ), who not only catered to the spiritual needs of the parishneors but also to their material needs such as health , income and education with great love and zeal.
In the year 1974, the parish was in a dire need for a school for Boys who neither could continue at Holy Mary School nor get admission at any other catholic school nearby . Rev.Fr. Y.M. Joseph (the then asst. parish priest ) proposed to have Boys School in the church premises . The proposal was immediately accepted by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr.Xavier Roch, and the Parish Pastoral Council and the school was started as ‘Vijaya Marie school’ for boys in June 1974. During the condolence meeting of Late. Rev. Fr.Xavier Roch, Fr.Y.M.Jospeh , proposed to rename the school was as ‘Fr.Roch Memorial School’.
Thus ,Fr. Y. M.Joseph , is the Founder of the Fr. Roch Memorial High School. By the following year, June 1975 – the strength of the school increased from 54 to 314 boys. With the then Archbishop Late. Most Rev. S. Arulappa’s Blessings , between the year 1975 - 1979 , full fledged four floor-building was built as classes were added year after year. In 1981 the first batch of X Class appeared for the SSC Examinations.
The school took rapid strides of progress under the stewardship many principals. In the year , the founder principal was transferred . Rev.Fr. U.J Chinnappa succeeded as the second Principal followed by Rev. Fr. V.K Swamy, in whose time he initiated to build the KG section ( Now Vianney Home) and was completed by Rev. Fr.T.M Matthew during his tenure as the fourth principal . Late Rev.Fr. I.Gnanapragasam, with his hardwork took forward the school during his stay from 1988 to 1996.
Admissions were opened for the Girls in 1997-98 during the period of Rev. Fr. Domnic Savio, the then Principal and now it is a Co-Education School . At the new millennium in the year 2000 , the school reached the milestone of celebrating its Silver Jubilee under late. Rev.Fr.M.Devanand . The eighth principal was Rev.Fr.G.Louis Reddy who lead the school with simplicity and joy for an year .
Rev. Fr.Y.M. Joseph , was assigned as correspondent of the school in the year 1997, when he came back as Parish Priest to Shrine of Our lady of Health. He felt the need to shift the school building to the present status . Following years , Rev.Fr.Bala Prabhakar made all the efforts to adjust in the new building. In the following years , Rev.Fr. M. Hrudaya Kumar and Rev.Fr. Dodda Bala Reddy , with their dedication and hardwork – shaped the school under one campus but with two different buildings.
In 2013 , Rev.Fr.B.Anand , the then principal , to ease out the administration and supervision, with due permissions of the then Archbishop Most. Rev. Thumma Bala and the team of HAES, added ground and third floor to the existing building , brought elementary and KG classes to the main building. The K.G park , the greenery around the school and the school stage were added during his tenure.
During the year 2017 to 2022 , Rev. Fr. Pasala Joseph was the principal , who put in his efforts for online classes during Covid and renovated the school building to cope-up epidemic conditions.
Today under the able, dynamic guidance of His Eminence Cardinal Poola Anthony and the members of the HAES , Rev.Fr.M.M.Kennedy , is blessed to drive the Golden Jubilee of this great institution. There remains much more to be done in the school to attain higher standards in future to meet the challenges of changing times and competence amongst educational institutions. Having future Vision for the students , specially now when the standard has reduce after covid -19, thinks ahead of everyone, and has started Smart Classes and has decentralized the work at school . His innovative ideas, special interest for the catholic students , care for teachers , reverence for all the former principals and above all the very ideology of school is now carried forward to accomplish the Mentor’s and Founder’s dream .
While the staff of the school under the leadership of the present principal is willing and eager to scale their efforts higher, a similar gesture from the parents is essentially required. Their co-operation and support is needed to improve the reputation of the school as well as all round development of the students, which eventually is a contribution to their own child’s future.
This brings us to the end of our School’s architecture journey until the next chapter is completed. And so, as this prestigious institution completes 50 glorious years, I , (Mr. B. Rajesh) as an Alumnus and present staff member , take the privilege of cheering the school, for its Golden Jubilee. I remember each and every person who helped to create this school, not only through their ideals and guidance, but also with the brick and mortar that has laid the foundation of where we stand now. I thrive in the fond hope of witnessing the school soaring to its goals in a team effort of the principal and staff of Fr. Roch Memorial High School.
